Concerto award:
Ealing Festival, working with Ealing Symphony Orchestra, presents an annual Concerto Award for which concerto class winners from the Pianoforte and Instrumental sections compete. The winner performs a concerto with Ealing Symphony Orchestra in its next season.

If you are new to Ealing Festival…
Teachers, parents and performers, please take note of the following.
-
Read the festival regulations at the front of the Syllabus and the start of your section, and also the Child Protection Policy at the back
-
Notifications of class dates and times are sent out by email 2–3 weeks prior to the festival
-
Check your venue in advance: different sections are held at different locations
-
Plan to arrive 10 minutes before the start of the class in which you are due to play. If you go to the wrong venue you could miss your class. Also, latecomers disrupt the classes and disturb the adjudicators
-
With the exception of performers and anyone in charge of a large group of performers, audience members need to buy an entry ticket on the day. Programmes listing all performers are available at each venue for a small charge
-
Please provide a copy of the music for the adjudicator, and of course for your accompanist
-
Note that no photography, recording or filming is allowed during festival sessions
-
Stay until the end of your class and listen to the adjudication. The adjudicator will advise on how performances could be improved, sometimes with demonstrations, and present medals and awards as appropriate
-
Pick up your certificate, mark sheet and music after your class – they cannot be posted on afterwards
-
If you win a trophy, the performer or a parent/guardian must sign a receipt for it and the trophy must be returned in good time for the following year’s festival (see syllabus regulations at the start of each section).

Instrumental Section notes
1 The term ‘beginners’ refers to players with not more than 18 months’ tuition prior to the date of the Festival.
2 Classes may be amalgamated or split at the organisers’ discretion.
3 The Festival can provide six music stands for use by competitors.
4 Please note that the time limits must be observed, in the interests of fairness and also to keep the classes running on time.
